The new hardware platform for the Lasergraph DSP series is the Lasergraph
DSP compact. It combines the advantages in terms of functionality, quality
and reliability of the present series with small dimensions and a low
price.
.
A full Lasergraph
DSP for one projector output was integrated on a single board. This board
is placed in a small 19" enclosure, 1 unit height, 235 mm depth including
a wide range power supply. On the board are a fast main processor with
64 MByte memory, a 100 MHz DSP and a generous set of interfaces. Besides
the interfaces for SMPTE time code, MIDI in/out, DMX in/out, faderboards,
Ethernet there are three serial interfaces for different tasks among other
things for remote control of lasers.
The Lasergraph DSP
compact is designed as a stand alone device as well as to be used in a
network. It may be remotely controlled and programmed via it's fast 100
MBit Ethernet interface (TCP/IP protocol) by a laptop or a desktop PC
under Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000, with the special program LGRemote or by
a Lasergraph DSP workstation.
The Lasergraph DSP compact is a perfect stand-alone play-back or live-controller
without the need of any additional devices. A MIDI keyboard and/or a CD-ROM
drive makes the Lasergraph DSP compact a powerful lasershow controller
for clubs, discothecs, convention centers, movie theaters etc.
Highlights
Scaleability
- can be used for small to very large installations. Later extensions
of the installation may be done without problems.
Modularity -
equal hardware modules can be used for simple and for complex tasks. If
more than one scanner output is needed any number of Lasergraph DSP compact
units may be connected in a network.
Completeness
- all necessary interfaces like DMX, SMPTE, MIDI are directly integrated,
no need of additional devices.
General software
concept - for easy to most demanding programming needs.
Three software licenses are available - easy, progressive and superior
( software information).
Unique network
concept - all attached input devices like MIDI keyboards, DMX consoles,
SMPTE-timecode sources, CD-ROM drives etc. are usable not only locally
but also for all other Lasergraph DSP platforms in the network. This simplifies
the wiring dramatically. The number of network components is not limited.
Remote controllable
- one or more Lasergraph DSP compact units may be controlled and programmed
by a Lasergraph DSP workstation, a desktop PC or notebook operated under
Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 or an Apple Macintosh computer with SoftWindows.
An Ethernet adapter and the free LGRemote software is required only.
Flexibility
- the dimensions of the Lasergraph DSP compact are so small, that it can
be placed close to or inside of a laser projector. Long trouble-prone
cables for analog signals are completely avoided.
Robust - reliable
under hard conditions (transportation, open air events etc.)
Valied - into
a show program, other effects besides the laser pictures and films can
be integrated. Every detail can be exactly sychronized to the music using
the timecode.
Immediate access
- the boot-up time is only 5 sec after turning on the power including
the establishment of the (Ethernet) network connections.
Lasergraph DSP Workstation
The Lasergraph DSP
workstation is a a top class laser and effect control computer which is
used worldwide. It was presented in 1991 and its hard- and software has
been consequently developed ever since. The high functionality and reliability
of this computer was proved by users from around the world under sometimes
hard conditions.

One DSP-processor-carte
150 MHz which displays 100,000 dots per second with 56 bit accuracy is
part of the basic equipment of each Lasergraph DSP workstation. With this,
one pair of scanners and a color control with up to six lines can be controlled.
Up to three of these cards can be fitted additionally, so that a maximum
of four pairs of scanners can be controlled simultaneously and independently.
General software concept
- for easy to most demanding programming needs. Three software licenses
are available - easy, progressive and superior ( Lasergraph DSP Software
Information).
The Lasergraph DSP
workstation contains all necessary interfaces: MIDI, DMX, SMPTE, Fader,
Modem, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, SCSI and Ethernet AUI.
It is possible to
connect the Lasergraph DSP workstation to an Ethernet Network using the
AUI interface. All attached input devices like MIDI keyboards, DMX consoles,
SMPTE-time code sources, CD-ROM drives etc. are usable not only locally
but also for all other Lasergraph DSP platforms in the network. This simplifies
the wiring dramatically. The number of network components is not limited.
One or more Lasergraph
DSP workstation units may be remote controlled and programmed using a
PC or Laptop under Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000 and the free programm "LGRemote"
and also an Apple Macintosh Computer with "LGRemote" under Softwindows
in a network.
So the Lasergraph DSP workstation can be placed near the laserprojector.
Long trouble-prone cables for analog signals are completely avoided.
Into a show program,
other effects besides the laser pictures and films can be integrated.
Every detail can be exactly sychronized to the music using the timecode.
A color monitor, a
keyboard and a mouse will be delivered with the Lasergraph DSP workstation.
The Lasergraph DSP workstation with software licenses easy and progressive
comes with a 15" TFTcolor monitor, the Lasergraph DSP workstation
with superior license comes with a 18" TFT color monitor.
One Peripheral Card
with 32 adjustable analog outputs (0-5V or 0-10V, 8bit accuracy) is delivered
with the Lasergraph DSP workstation superior. Up to eight of these cards
can be controlled via MIDI or DMX512, so that a maximum of 256 outputs
can be realized.
Besides a faderboard with eight faders and two joystick ports comes with
Lasergraph DSP workstation superior. Faderboards with up to 64 faders
and 8 joystick ports are possible.
For the Lasergraph DSP workstation with software licenses easy and progressive
are faderboard and peripheral card optional.
The whole system can
be delivered packed in two flightcases for simple and safe transportation
